5 QUICK HITS

Ever since it debuted in May of 2023, ChatGPT's mobile app has recently raked in a milestone $2 billion in global consumer spending, according to a new analysis by Appfigures. In 2025 alone, Appfigures reports that the app earned $1.35 billion, up 673% year-over-year, averaging $193 million monthly. The app has been downloaded 690 million times worldwide, with India leading in installs and the U.S. driving 38% of revenue. Compared to Grok's $0.75 and Claude's $2.55 per install globally, ChatGPT earns $2.91 as it leads AI adoption on mobile.

Meta finds itself under fire after an internal document viewed by news outlet Reuters was reported to allow its Meta AI to engage in "sensual and romantic chats" with children and offer false medical info. Titled "GenAI: Content Risk Standards," the document's notes and examples of such allowed behavior "have been removed," according to a Meta spokesperson, but not before social media caught wind of the report. U.S. Senator Josh Hawley soon after announced that he would launch an investigation into the company, and a few days later, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced his own probe into Meta and Character.AI.

According to sources familiar, Nvidia is developing a new AI chip for China based on its Blackwell architecture that would massively outperform the currently approved H20. Dubbed B320A, the design will deliver only half the computing power of Nvidia's flagship B300 but retain advanced features like NVLink. Although U.S. President Donald Trump has shown openness to the idea, regulatory approval from Washington remains uncertain. Despite this, Nvidia hopes to deliver samples to Chinese clients as early as next month, as it looks to recover from a blow to its market share from Huawei.

UK-based Arm Holdings has reportedly hired Rami Sinno, former director of Amazon's AI chip division, as it plans its first-ever move into chip development. By and large, Arm has solely been a chip designer since its inception, creating core architectures and instruction sets for processors that it then sells to customers - but that could change. Paired with the hiring of Sinno, Arm had previously disclosed plans in July to divest part of its profits into building its own chips and other components, with CEO Rene Haas even flirting with the idea of going beyond just designs and building chiplets.

Popular writing assistant tool Grammarly launched a whole series of nine new AI agents for students and educators alike earlier this week. The agents can help anywhere from aiding educators detect plagiarism, helping students with citations, and even predicting their grade. The specialized agents are available in Docs, Grammarly's "AI-native writing surface," for both Grammarly Free and Plus users, save for the the AI and plagiarism detector agents, which are exclusive to Plus. The company expects more agents to follow "later this year" as it also looks to expand them to Enterprise and Education users as well.
